This is my official
entry to TechPinas.com Gadget Bonanza BlackBerry Power Pair Edition.
I
live with a potentially debilitating disease coursing through my veins.
I
also happen to live in a time wherein the march towards technological fulfillment is at
its most impressive: oh hear how a 140-word statement can move the world! Oh
see how a single app (in every update) strives to have everything one may need!
Oh feel how an advocacy grows in strength through simply “sharing” an image! Such
is the time for clear intent; for meaning, significance; for creating an
impact. There’s only room for a single line for catching petty sympathies.
There
was this moment, upon diagnosis, when I heard, in my mind, doors after doors
slamming close. It was resounding: as if, brought down hard by the gavel of
justice, I sensed my guilt for being careless, irresponsible. Moreover was the
discouraging view of the light towards my future dwindling, wasting away.
Of
course I understand differently now: Yes, those doors maybe closed—but are all
locked? And so, what if the light’s dying? I can even see better now. I can very
well focus on a purpose, thank you very much for the restriction.
Nowadays
it’s all about living to the fullest, at any day, any hour, any moment. In some
of these moments I desire, particularly, to educate more people of the disease,
to make them aware. Aware, that the number of afflicted individuals, like me,
is growing; that prevention, by way of the simple act of responsibility, forever
exists; and that, there is always hope for a cure.
Lately
my faith for my Blackberry has been unwavering. I believe in its power and
capability. I believe I can connect (the techie-savvy term is “link”) friends,
even friends of friends, to useful information, to news, discoveries, and to
events of the similar cause (like seminars, conventions), without fuss or
stress-filled hassle. I believe then I can check activity wherever and
whenever. I believe, with its million apps, there is supposed to be at least
one (see Johns Hopkins Guides from Unbound Medicine), entirely devoted for dissemination of all corresponding facts. In
addition, I fully believe in my Blackberry’s organization. I believe its
Calendar feature can influence my idea of order, can set it right for further
productivity.
I’m
aware that I don’t have much time.
But
that doesn’t mean at all that in the time I have left, through my trustworthy
Blackberry phone, I wouldn’t be able to contribute my legacy to humanity.
